Why Recover Abandoned Carts
Most shoppers leave items in their cart without buying — often not because they lost interest, but simply because they got distracted. A well-timed WhatsApp reminder brings them back. Since cart recovery reaches someone who was already ready to buy, it consistently delivers some of the highest returns of any ecommerce marketing activity.
Set Up Cart Recovery
- 1
Connect your store
In Integrations, connect your ecommerce platform so WA Orbit can see when a cart is abandoned. This lets the automation trigger on real cart events.
- 2
Create a cart recovery flow
In Automations, create a flow triggered by "Cart abandoned". WA Orbit passes the customer and their cart details into the flow automatically.
- 3
Write the recovery message
Draft a friendly reminder that references their cart, using variables like {{cart.items}} and {{cart.total}} to make it personal and relevant.
- 4
Set timing
Choose when to send, typically 1 to 24 hours after abandonment. A short delay gives customers time to finish shopping while the intent is still fresh.
- 5
Add a follow-up
Add a second reminder a few days later if they still have not purchased. Optionally include a discount link to nudge hesitant buyers to complete the order.
Making Reminders Convert
Reference the cart
Mention the actual items left behind. A message that names the product feels personal and prompts action.
Add a gentle incentive
A small discount or free-shipping code in a follow-up can tip a hesitant buyer over the line.
Don't over-message
Limit recovery sends to one or two reminders. Too many messages annoy customers and can lead to opt-outs.
Tip
Track which recovery messages convert using your delivery and revenue reports. Over time you'll learn the timing and offers your customers respond to best.
