Why Qualify Leads with a Bot
A lead qualification bot asks the right questions the moment a customer reaches out, so you capture interest while it's fresh. It sorts serious buyers from casual inquiries automatically, tags the promising ones, and hands your sales team qualified, ready-to-contact leads instead of a generic list.
Build a Qualification Bot
- 1
Open the lead bot template
In the Automations section, select "Lead Qualification" to start from a ready-made bot. Templates give you a working starting point you can customize.
- 2
Define your qualifying questions
Write the questions that decide if a contact is a good lead, like budget, timeline, or what they are interested in. Keep the flow short and easy to answer.
- 3
Add answer options
Offer quick reply buttons or keyword choices so customers can answer with a tap instead of typing. This keeps the conversation fast and improves completion.
- 4
Capture the lead
When a contact qualifies, save their answers to the contact profile, add a "Qualified lead" tag, and optionally route them to a sales agent.
- 5
Handle unqualified leads
Set an action for contacts that do not qualify, like a polite message and a note on their profile, so the flow always ends cleanly.
Designing Good Questions
Ask only what matters
Limit the bot to the few questions you actually use to qualify, so fewer customers drop off mid-flow.
Use tags to route
Tag qualified leads with labels like "Hot lead" or "Needs follow-up" so sales can prioritize instantly.
Capture details
Save their answers to the contact profile so a salesperson never has to re-ask basic questions.
Tip
Always offer an escape hatch. Let customers type "agent" or "human" to reach a real person — a bot that traps people frustrates them and loses the lead you were trying to catch.
