Why Import Contacts
Importing your existing customer list from a CSV lets you bring a ready-made audience into WA Orbit in minutes. Once imported, these contacts feed your broadcasts, tags, and segmentation — so you can start sending the moment your account is set up.
Import a CSV
- 1
Prepare your CSV
Create a CSV file with a "Name" column and a "Phone" column. Add any custom fields like city or order value, which can be used for personalization and segmentation later.
- 2
Include country codes
Make sure every phone number includes the country code, for example +91 for India. Numbers without a country code may be skipped during import.
- 3
Upload the file
In Contacts, click "Import" and select your CSV. WA Orbit previews the first rows so you can confirm the columns were mapped correctly.
- 4
Review mapped columns
Match your file columns to WA Orbit contact fields. Most imports auto-detect Name and Phone; you can adjust the mapping for any custom columns.
- 5
Confirm duplicates
Review how duplicate numbers are handled, updating the existing contact or skipping it. Then confirm to complete the import and add the contacts to your list.
CSV Best Practices
Keep headers consistent
Use clear single-row headers like "Name" and "Phone". Avoid merged cells and special formatting that can confuse the importer.
Standardize numbers
Use international format with country code. Add a leading zero or keep numbers uniform so WhatsApp can match deliveries correctly.
Avoid duplicates
Clean up duplicate numbers before importing to keep your list accurate and avoid wasted sends.
Tip
Add custom columns like city or last-order-date when you import. WA Orbit turns these into segmentable fields, so you can target exactly the right audience for each campaign.
